Review: ‘Ghost Hunters’ Season 5, Episode 9

Let’s start by saying that I believe in ghosts, so from the first season, GHOST HUNTERS has been a series on my must-watch list. Here we have a bunch of regular guys (and a few gals) exploring supposedly haunted sites, attempting to find out if something paranormal is going on — looking for something that really does go “bump in the night“.

Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes started T.A.P.S. (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) almost 15 years ago, after both experienced paranormal events that opened them up to many new questions. The two plumbers (and they still are) work with various friends and technical equipment experts to find answers to those big questions — are ghosts, demons, poltergeists, and such, real and are they trying to communicate with us?

INHUMAN ENTITY begins the final 17 episodes of Season 5, sending the T.A.P.S. gang off on another adventure. The owners of a nearby house in Blackstone, Massachusetts have encountered what they believe is a very nasty spirit — a confrontational being strong enough that it might be classified a demon. The entity even attacks one of the TAPS investigators, leaving visible proof. There is also a fascinating “conversation” with a possible ghost using an electronic energy-sensing device.

Wilson and Hawes are very practical, believable investigators — they don’t pretend to be psychics or mediums, just objective outsiders who are smart enough to ask the right questions and open enough to pursue almost anything for the answer. Sometimes the answer is “nothing here” — at least at the moment.

There is no ghost-busting going on, but they will occasionally give pointers to the concerned residents on how to get rid of the spirits — or how to live with them.

The rest of the fifth season crew is Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, Amy Bruni, Jen Rossi and Kristyn Gartland.

And for those who like their ghost chasers with more of a story line, try GHOST WHISPERER, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, which joins the SyFy lineup premiering Monday, September 7th.
