Sunday’s Top Cow Comics panel at Emerald City Comic Con provided fans with a string of updates on projects currently in development by the company. Wanted, Witchblade and Darkness were all touched on but the emphasis of the panel was the future of the company’s Pilot Season Project. Before the news was announced, fans in attendance were treated to a screening of the trailer for the upcoming Wanted film from starring Angela Jolie and James McAvoy.

Once the Wanted trailer had shown, Top Cow exec Filip Sablik kicked things off with a full rundown of the Pilot Season 2 releases coming this year. The series will include six books, each featuring a one-shot comic that readers will then vote on (via MySpace) to determine which will be given its own series. Themes covered in this year’s Pilot Season run include espionage, military strategy, fantasy, ‘Greek noir’ and good old-fashioned vigilantism. The titles for Pilot Season 2 are Alibi, Genius, Lady Pendragon, Twilight Guardian, The Core and Urban Myths. With last year’s run of Pilot Season tallying up over 4.1 million votes, Top Cow is banking that fans will be ready to give six more comics a chance at a full series.

The discussion then turned to Broken Trinity, the company’s big summer event, where it was revealed that a new character will enter the universe while another familiar one will meet his end. Series writer Ron Marz will be continuing with Broken Trinity as well as working on a new series titled Dragon Prince, which is due out late this year. Another series that is set to continue is the Daredevil/Magdelena crossover with Marvel. Creators Phil Hester and Ande Parks are still on board and plan another 4-5 issues. There was not much news on the Darkness front, other than a brief hint that a follow-up video game is likely in the works, considering the success of the previous Darkness game.
