This Week’s Tastiest Morsel
District 9 (Two-Disc Edition)
After being chased away from the fabled Halo movie for inexperience, Neill Blomkamp shamed everyone by making a poignant and awesome Sci-Fi hit. Make sure to grab the 2 Disc edition or the Blu-ray to get the features on the special effects.
Fresh Catches
(500) Days of Summer
This critical darling stars two of my favorite actors in Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel and has been lauded as the smart couple’s romantic comedy. Although, couples who don’t have a Blu-ray will be disappointed they held most of the features off the standard DVD.
Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side
Seth Green has now been in too many Star Wars parodies with his involvement in the Family Guy and Robot Chicken adaptations. Now that they are rolling I imagine a Return of the Jedi feature is assured.
It Might Get Loud
Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Jack White (White Stripes, Raconteurs) and The Edge (U2) all get together to jam and discuss the history of Rock and Roll especially as it pertains to the electric guitar. Music fans should really enjoy this documentary, and it was well reviewed.
All About Steve
Now that Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper are getting a ton of praise the press seems to gloss over this romantic dud that fell in the middle of their year of Hangover and Blind Side success. However, they somehow wrangled everyone back for an Audio Commentary which features the two stars, Ken Jeung, Thomas Hayden Church, the writer, and the director.
Extract
Mike Judge (Office Space) always seems to elude commercial success, so I wonder if he will continue to follow it up with cult success. However, they didn’t spend much effort on the DVD to help them along as it comes with only one featurette.

Flowers in the Attic
I had to highlight this campy movie that scared me as a kid. It follows a group of kids who have to live with their grandmother after their father dies and she torments them and even tries to kill them off to protect the inheritance. I remember a young Kristy Swanson as the oldest daughter being very interesting to me back then too.
