The Maiden Heist
I can’t believe a movie with this cast, which includes Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy, and Marcia Gay Harden, didn’t get a theatrical push. The story follows three security guards at a museum who decide to steal and replace a few of their works of art before they get transferred to another museum and, of course, hilarity ensues. This should be a solid rental, and in a light week it gets the top spot.
Fresh Catches
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Edward James Olmos directs this feature showing more of the Cylon side of the conflict that spanned four seasons. It has a few new features most of which feature the admiral himself and the key Cylon actors. If only they could keep the franchise alive with these types of things forever.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Buy The Scrat Pack edition if you want any features or get the Blu-ray which also comes with a Digital Copy.
Orphan
This evil child film is the only decent Halloween release this week which is surprising, but it will likely move more copies than this movie is worth without competition. The DVD is featureless besides an alternate ending and the Blu-ray has a Digital Copy.
Whatever Works
Larry David steps into the typical Woody Allen role as an awkward older man who was a strange relationship with a younger woman. Also in typical Woody Allen fashion the DVD is featureless.
Monty Python: Almost The Truth
This is the six part documentary that has been airing on IFC that covers the Monty Python experience from their origin to their tremendous influence with a ton of interviews from the cast members and comedy contemporaries like Lorne Michael, Dan Aykroyd, and Seth Green.
Double Dip DVDs
Stargate 15th Anniversary Edition [Blu-ray]
This is a touch up on the first Blu-Ray release which was put out at the birth of the format without features. This has all the features included in the last standard DVD special edition and both cuts of the film. Rounding out this re-release are some brand-new features.
