Season One of Vampire Mob pretty much set the standard for how you want to make a continuing web series. Those six episodes are tightly paced with a high quality and superior acting that is rarely found in web shows. Now the show is back for a second season and actually manages to raise the bar that much higher. Episode One picks up literally minutes after the cliffhanger ending from last season and quickly reminds you why you love this series so much. John Colella returns as the long-suffering Don Grigioni, who can’t even get in a proper interrogation of his would-be killer without a nagging phone call from his wife, Annie (Reamy Hall, who appears voice only in this installment). Colella can go from scarily menacing to hen-pecked and back again in a heartbeat and does so hysterically. As much as I love Colella, the episode is nearly stolen by Peter Spruyt as the supposed know-it-all Aldo. Aldo is oily, sleazy and not at all intimidate by Don’s two fiercest weapons, guns and fangs. Spruyt seems to relish the role and throw himself completely into, lucky for us. And the last second appearance by Parks and Recreation‘s Retta is as perfectly timed as it is funny. This is Indie TV at its finest and certainly the target for future web producers to aim for.

About Vampire Mob:
John Colella (CSI: NY, The West Wing) stars as Don Grigioni. Don became a vampire because “it was a good fit” for is nocturnal life of crime. He never planned on biting his wife, Annie (Reamy Hall, Criminal Minds), and making her immortal, “but then I got hungry.” Annie felt bad that her mom (Emmy winner Marcia Wallace, The Simpsons) would die one day and bit her, never discussing it with Don, and now mom needs a place to stay and blood to drink. With Don’s hit business slowing down, the last thing he needs is more “grocery shopping.”
