Stan Winston Has Died

This is just truly horrible, tragic news. It looks like Stan Winston, perhaps the greatest special effects and makeup artist, has died. Although he had recently turned his eye to digital effects, he has been responsible for creating groundbreaking visual and makeup effects for the Terminator series, the Jurassic Park series, Aliens, the Predator series, and Edward Scissorhands. Most recently he created the suits for Iron Man. The story seems to have broken at Ain’t It Cool News, where it started as a rumor, but Quint has confirmed it through phone calls to people who would know. We’ve made our own inquiries to get an official confirmation and are awaiting a phone call back. We will update with more news as we get it. This is just a terrible loss and we wish we weren’t starting out the week with this.
