[UPDATED]Transformers 2: More Cast Additions

[UPDATED 6/4] Thank to a hot tip from reader Gen Shim, we’ve just received word via the Transformers Live Action Movie Blog that Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation) has been cast in Transformers 2. Apparently, she is playing a university student, so expect her to have scenes with returning actors Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox. Check out the original story for all the known details.

British action movie veteran, Matthew Marsden has joined the expanding cast of Transformers 2, MTV News is reporting today. Marsden (Rambo, Resident Evil: Extinction, Black Hawk Down) will be playing the part of Graham, a British Special Ops soldier. He will teaming up with the familiar military characters portrayed by Josh Duhamel (U.S. Army Captain Lennox) and Tyrese Gibson (U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant Epps) against the Decepticons.

While a veil of secrecy, and layers of misinformation, surround the production, it seems that the plot will be far more global in scale compared to the first film. With international filming expected, shooting has already begun in Pennsylvania, where the Bethlehem Steel facility has been transformed into a fictional Chinese location. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers and Constantine) told WFMZ’s 69 News, “You just can’t replicate something like this. In our minds this was the kind of [setting] we were looking for the opening scene and here it is- it exists.” (Click here for the video).

Also returning for the second film will be Shia LaBeouf,Megan Fox and John Turturro, who will be joined recent cast addition of Rainn Wilson (The Office) as a college professor.

Transformers 2” is slate to be released on June 26, 2009.
