82nd Academy Awards – Nominees Reactions

Obviously getting nominated for an Academy Award is a big deal in the eyes of Hollywood and elicits a range of emotions and feelings from those that have participated in a film that now has a shot at the golden statue. We are receiving several responses today from many nominees with more to come throughout the next couple of days. Check back frequently as we will update this article often.

FROM ANNA KENDRICK, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
“I am thrilled beyond words to be nominated with these talented and inspiring women. Being involved in a film as special as Up in the Air was a dream come true. I am overwhelmed and honored by this nomination and am so grateful to be able to share this experience with George, Vera and Jason.”

FROM HENRY SELICK, Director of Coraline, Academy Award nominee for BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM:
“I feel very lucky and very grateful that Coraline is nominated. There were more excellent animated features released in 2009 than in any year before, so being included makes all of us from LAIKA and Focus Features very proud. And the diversity of the nominees in both storytelling and animation techniques gladdens my heart: The Princess and the Frog and The Secret of Kells, done in hand-drawn animation; Coraline and Fantastic Mr. Fox, in stop-motion; and Up, in glorious CG. It’s a great day for me, my family, and for all of us on Coraline – and a great day for animated feature films.”

FROM GABOUREY SIDIBE, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE:
“I am so excited and honored to be recognized by the Academy and included in such a remarkable group of actors. I’m very proud of my film, my cast and extremely grateful to Mr. Daniels for the incredible opportunity to play Precious.”

FROM MO’NIQUE, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
“What an honor to be nominated for this prestigious award. God bless us”.

FROM VERA FARMIGA, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
“I am deeply honored and humbled by this recognition and truly grateful to the Academy for their support of Up In The Air. I feel my nomination is due, in large part, to the phenomenal work of George, Anna and Jason on this film and it is especially moving to receive my first nomination in their company.”

FROM JEFF BRIDGES, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE:
“I’m so grateful to have the honor of a fifth Oscar nomination, but to share this with my Crazy Heart colleagues T Bone and Ryan and my amazing co-star Maggie is truly special – this film is near and dear to my heart and theirs. I want to thank the Academy for being so kind to me for the past 40 years, and I want to thank my director Scott Cooper for helping bring Bad Blake to life, and to my wonderful wife Sue for being there for me the past 33 years. Today is filled with blessings.”

FROM MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL, Academy Award nominee for BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE:
“I am thrilled…beyond thrilled. I was completely surprised, overwhelmed and overjoyed this morning when I heard about the nomination. I am so proud of this movie. Working with Jeff was amazing. He opened me up and pushed me so far. I’d love to keep making movies with him over and over again. Scott Cooper wrote such a beautiful script and was so full of love and strength as a director. I am honored and overjoyed!”

FROM RYAN BINGHAM, Academy Award nominee for MUSIC, ORIGINAL SONG – “The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)”:
“Being a part of Crazy Heart has been the experience of a lifetime, and I never could have imagined when I first started writing “The Weary Kind” that it would have led to such an honor from the Academy. I couldn’t have asked to work with a more amazing and talented group of people on my first film. I feel both privileged and excited to share this Oscar nomination today along with T Bone Burnett, Jeff Bridges, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.”

FROM JON LANDAU, Producer of Avatar, Academy Award nominee for BEST PICTURE:
“To receive these accolades from the members of the Academy is more than we could have imagined. We are truly grateful and are also thrilled for the technical people who are being recognized for their artistic achievements, as this demonstrates what a huge team effort it took from so many talented people to make this movie.”
