Continuing their week long daily reveals of major announcements, DC Comics The Source blog today announced that Marc Guggenheim will be stepping in as regular writer of Action Comics starting next summer. Presumably this will be during the big “War of the Supermen” storyline that kicks off on Free Comic Book Day. This of course begs the question of where Greg Rucka and Eric Trautmann are going and hopefully that will be answered this week as well.
About his new assignment Guggenheim said this, “One of my earliest memories was reading — not even reading, just looking at the pictures, actually, as I was too young to read – Action Comics. It’s an enormous thrill and a humbling thing to write a comic you literally grew up reading. When D.C. called, I understood how President Obama must have felt when the Nobel Committee called him. Now I just have to work hard not to screw it up.”
Stay tuned to Pop Culture Zoo for on Action Comics, “War of the Supermen,” and the rest of this week’s big DC announcements.
