The Hollywood Reporter has a late breaking news story revealing that Sendhil Ramamurthy has dropped out of the David Tennant led NBC pilot for Rex Is Not Your Lawyer and has been replaced by Jerry O’Connell. O’Connell, who previously starred in the television series Sliders and Crossing Jordan as well as numerous feature films, will now play Rex’s (Tennant) best bud who falls in love with his friend’s fiancée. Also included in the announcement as joining the pilot are Lindsay Kraft as a former waitress singer-songwriter working as Rex’s assistant and Cleo King as a no-nonsense private-school bus driver coached by Rex in her wrongful-termination case. Production on Rex is due to begin Monday the 7th.
Ramamurthy is said to have left the pilot due to a scheduling conflict. This could be due to his character, Mohinder Suresh, having a larger part in the episodes leading up to the end of the fourth season of Heroes or that a season five pickup announcement is imminent for the veteran NBC series and the actor plays a part in those plans.
