At first glance Moon appears to be following in the grand tradition of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris, but I think there is something much cooler going on. I’m a sucker for cerebral, character-driven sci-fi stories and this looks to fit the bill. Moon stars Sam Rockwell as a man nearing the end of a three year contract mining a natural gas on the Moon that could solve the energy crisis. His only companion has been the station’s computer voice. Two weeks before he is due to go home to his wife and daughter, he makes a discovery both profound and chilling.
