We all knew it was happening, but it is still exciting to get the official start of production announcement on a highly anticipated film. Captain America: Winter Soldier has started production and Marvel Studios/Disney have released the first behind-the-scenes image (see below). Additionally, we have a little insight as to what the film will be about, although those who have read the previous Captain America comic book series have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Captain America: Winter Soldier hits theaters in a year. The film stars Chris Evans back as Cap, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce. The rest of the cast includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández as Agent Jasper Sitwell.
