On November 11, the Science Channel will hold a Firefly Marathon. The all-day event will start at 7AM ET/PT showing all 14 episodes, in proper order, followed by a one-hour special Firefly: Browncoats Unite (10PM ET/PT). Creator Joss Whedon along with Captain Mal Reynolds, Nathan Fillion, better known these days as the star of Castle, will join their old crewmates Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres and Jewel Staite. Hard to believe it’s been 10 years.
Firefly was only 14 episodes, 3 of which were not aired and ratings were never good. Yet little by little, and a good DVD, fans connected with the show making it an enduring favorite and a powerful influence in pop culture. They even managed to make enough noise to get a movie out of it, Serenity.
Yes, good characters and an exciting concept always win – at least with fans if not the PTB.
