Alcatraz Escapes From Wondercon

On March 21, 1963 all the inmates and guards at Alcatraz, America’s most infamous prison, disappear. The government puts their own spin on it, prisoners and guards were merely transferred to newer facilities. The notorious prison island eventually becomes a National Park and tourist attraction.

Prisoners are now reappearing after almost 50 years, but seemingly untouched physically by the time. A secret government agency lead by Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) is investigating the mystery and trying to recapture the inmates. But he has secrets of his own and so does his trusted confident Dr. Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra).

Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) is recruited after her partner is killed by one of the ’63s, as the missing prisoners are called. Dr. Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia), an author/expert on the history of Alcatraz becomes her new partner, but neither is prepared for the things they discover about the prison and their own personal ties to the mystery.

Alcatraz only has 3 more episodes to go with lots of things to explore and hopefully explain which will probably only open more doors, and in one case literally. Solutions to the mystery also leads to keys for a door which opens an area below the prison that might answer some issues and, as in all good cliffhangers, pose more questions which can only be answered in a full Season 2. We hope

Even though Alcatraz is actually shot in Vancouver the show returned to the hills of San Francisco to film an epic car chase for the closing episode, their version of the classic Steve McQueen stunt in Bullitt.

Alcatraz is seen Mondays on FOX at 9:00 PM. The final two shows of this season will be seen on March 26th.
