Picking up from the thrilling first season cliffhanger, Chance (Mark Valley) and Guererro (Jackie Earle Haley) stage a daring rescue of Winston (Chi McBride) from the hands of his torturous kidnappers. Two beautiful women join the team: billionaire philanthropist Ilsa Pucci (Indira Varma), who fears for her life after the mysterious death of her husband; and Ames (guest star Janet Montgomery), a chameleon-like master thief who inadvertently becomes involved with the plot to murder her new associate. Also guest-starring are Timothy Omundson as The Interrogator, Tahmoh Penikett as Pete and Rick Hoffman as Shelly.
Human Target had a really strong first season and it is great to see it returning. I’m cautiously optimistic about the additions to the cast. Indira Varma was great guest-starring on Torchwood and Hustle and absolutely superb on this year’s Luther, so I have high hopes for what she can bring to the group dynamic on this show. I’ve yet to see anything that Janet Montgomery has been in (yes, I know I’m horrible for never having watched Entourage), but I think it’s smart to have her recur instead of trying to shoehorn her into every episode. I really hope that this season builds upon the last, both in terms of ratings and storyline as Valley, Haley and McBride make a great team and I’d like to see them stick around for a few years.
