A young mother has been abducted. Luther realizes it’s the work of Lucien Burgess, a collector and writer of the occult who was suspected in the murder of another woman 10 years prior, but never charged. Desperate to outmaneuver Burgess, Luther turns to the only person he knows who is as dangerous as the man he is trying to catch. However, following their argument, will Alice be prepared to help him?
This episode of Luther goes quite a bit darker as Burgess is without a doubt a cold-blooded psychopath. Luther’s mostly cool exterior cracks even further as the pressure builds from Internal Affairs as well as his failed marriage. Once again, Luther knows full well who the murderer is, but the dots from murder to Burgess are nearly impossible to connect. Even his partner begins to doubt Luther’s methods. Ironically, Alice is increasingly becoming his only friend and ally. The best episode yet, if possibly the most unsettling. The next three weeks should prove even more intense and twisted.
