There have been a few attempts to continue and/or revive the great anime series Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers to varying degrees of success or not. Most recently, the official Star Blazers website has a brand new webcomic that fits in the success category and a brand new animated feature film that seems to be of the or not variety. In the meantime, there has been a live-action feature film in production for the past few months and the first trailer has hit the web. Having been a fan for the last thirty years I have to say I was pretty thrilled at seeing Derek Wildstar/Susumu Kodai, Captain Avatar/Captain Juzo Okita and the Argo/Yamato in the flesh. This film has been likened in impact as being what 2009’s Star Trek was to that venerable franchise so hopes are exceedingly high, to say the least. I really hope this makes it to America very soon after its release in December in Japan.
