Two New DC Comics Announcements

Over at the official DC Comics blog, The Source, the comics company made two new announcements today. First, due to overwhelming demand, in June of 2010 Wonder Woman will be renumbered as issue #600 and continue it’s numbering from there. As DC Comics Executive Editor himself explained, “The response to our call for Wonder Woman postcards was spectacular, and we got the message loud and clear. We asked for 600 and by the Oct 31st cut off, we had an overwhelming 712 postcards (nearly 800 by the time of this writing), so as a man of my word, starting in June 2010, DC’s Wonder Woman series will celebrate its 600th issue and continue on from there.” Below is the George Perez cover for the issue.

Also announced today is the Superman event for 2010 that’s been teased here and there. “War of the Supermen’ begins on Free Comic Book Day with issue #0 of the event. Written by James Robinson with art by Eddy Barrows not much else is known about the storyline, except for a quick tease from Superman Group Editor Matt Idelson:

“WAR OF THE SUPERMEN is the culmination of literally years of stories in the Super-books, all building to a destructive conflict which can have no victors. This Free Comic Book Day #0 issue is going to show the readers that no cows are sacred, and that they don’t want to miss this event.”

Time’s TECHLAND blog also has an interview with Idelson that reveals a few more bits. Check it out and peep the issue #0 cover below.
