Dean Encounters ‘Paranormal Activity’

The trends in horror movies lately has been returning to the slasher horror of the 80’s with Sorority Row, the return of Halloween, and the unending mess that has become the Saw and Final Destination franchises. As a long standing horror fan I have been searching far and wide to find decent suspenseful and clever horror films which have been primarily foreign films lately like Let the Right One In and The Orphanage. However, I ran across a little film called Paranormal Activity which looks like a cross between The Exorcist and The Blair Witch Project. I will include the trailer below so you can check it out, but I know I will be paying to see this on opening night because this will be a blast to see with an audience on the big screen.

I have grown sick of the movies that rely on sudden “jumps” and gore to scare people since a good horror movie will build up the suspense and hold it through the movie so that you are perpetually scared and then ruined when something jumps. This movie looks like the total package and I recommend watching the trailer once and then not looking at any other material on the film so you can see it fresh when it comes to a theater near you. Select major cities got the film on September 25th and those who live in smaller markets (ugh, like me in Delaware) will probably wait an extra week or two.
