Tolkien’s ‘The Legend of Sigurd’ to be Published

One of J.R.R. Tolkien’s early works, ‘The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún’ is set to be published in May of 2009, reports BookSeller.com. Previously unpublished, the book was written in the 1920’s and ’30s while Tolkien was professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University, before he wrote ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings.’ The epic follows the adventures of Sigurd, the legendary Norse hero and central character of the Völsunga saga… a story which is rife with gods, Aesir and dragons.

Edited and introduced by Christopher Tolkien, the book will be published in hardback by HarperCollins.
