Office Scribes Set to Craft Ghostbusters III Script

Why worry? Each one of us has an unlicensed nuclear accelerator strapped to his back...

Variety is reporting that “The Office” co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have been tasked by Columbia Pictures to write the script for the third act in the “Ghostbusters” franchise.  As a part of the deal, the script is intended to reunite Harold Ramis, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson for another outing in Ecto 1.

No word yet if the illusive Rick Moranis will be coming out of retirement to resume the roll of Louis Tully, or for that matter, if we’ll see more Sigorney Weaver or Annie Potts. The Emmy-nominated writers Eisenberg and Stupnitsky recently worked with Ramis on his upcoming cave man comedy “Year One,” starring Jack Black and Michael Cera.  According to the Variety article, no deals will be struck with the actors until the script is penned.

The news also comes hot on the heels of two other “Ghostbusters” related stories, namely the pending (and still under review) release of “Ghostbusters: The Video Game” and the announcement that “Ghostbusters” will be the first movie released on a USB flash drive!

Does this mean a Ray Parker Jr. comeback tour is in the works!?  What about a “Real Ghostbusters” reboot!? Dogs and cats living together…MASS HYSTERIA!
