When William Peterson announced he was leaving the popular CBS show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after nearly a decade of playing the lead character Gil Grissom, many fans were probably left wondering what the network and show’s producers could possibly do to survive such a loss. Well, they went and hired Laurence Fishburne is what they did. CSI die-hards should certainly breathe easier now. Through roles ranging from Cowboy Curtis in Pee-Wee’s Playhouse to the enigmatic Morpheus in the “Matrix” trilogy, Fishburne has long ago proven his acting chops and is definitely on par with Peterson for being able to keep eyes riveted to the screen by sheer force of performance alone. I’d go so far as to say that Peterson’s departure won’t lose them any viewers, but Fishburne just guaranteed a longterm ratings boost. We’re working on getting more news and reactions straight from the source, so keep checking back.
