There Can Be Only One…Again…

According to the Hollywood Reporter, not known for making things up, Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to remake the 1986 film “Highlander.” Now, I am a raving fan of the “Highlander” franchise. The first film is a classic and the TV Series is 95% great (there were some clunker episodes). The four sequel films and second spin-off series, while high on hype and bleeding potential, just fell very, very flat. Ok, you got me, they were awful. I was hoping after the abysmal failure of the last film that the franchise would just lie down and call it a day. Seems that’s not to be. The one nugget that somewhat interests me in this whole remake idea is that Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the writers of “Iron Man”, have been brought on board to pen the script. I will try to make a concerted effort to withhold judgment until I see what they want to do with it, but I think this franchise may have used up any goodwill with me and many fans. Any Highlander fans still out there? What do you think about this latest development? Read the whole Hollywood Reporter story here.
