24 Hour Comic Book Event In Stumptown

Coming up on the weekend of April 26th-27th is the annual Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, OR. In honor of that Portland’s mayor, Tom Potter, has declared April Comics Month in the Rose City. To celebrate that and to get everyone in the mood for Stumptown, on the weekend of April 5th-6th the folks at Cosmic Monkey Comics hosted a 24-Hour Comic marathon. The Event was co-sponsored by Top Shelf Productions and featured Image Comics’ Jim Valentino and David Chelsea, who created his record tenth 24-Hour comic! The comic creation started at 10AM on Saturday and we were there that night for halftime and all twenty-three participants were still going strong at that point. Check out our photo gallery of the event and we’ll see if we can get some samples of some of the books created for you soon. Thank you to the guys at Cosmic Monkey Comics for letting us stop by and check things out. If you’ve never been to Cosmic Monkey, you really need to stop by. It’s perhaps the coolest, friendliest and most well-stocked comics store I’ve been to in a long time. We will have more from them on our upcoming Free Comic Book Day whistle stop reports on May 3rd. In the meantime, check out the photos and chime in if you made a 24 hour comic or just stopped by to watch in our Lounge.
