New Dark Knight Photos and Set Report

The New York Times has a new story up focusing on Christopher Nolan and his approach to making the new Batman film, The Dark Knight.

22197019.JPGHere are some highlights:

*Nolan did not use a second-unit on the shoot, which means that every frame that’s shown on the screen was shot by him.

*One of the themes explored will be whether or not the mere presence of Batman in Gotham City is what attracts the bizarre and twisted criminals like the Joker to the city.

*Gotham City itself won’t be portrayed as a dark and brooding city, but as a gleaming modern metropolis.

ECCC ’08: Two months until the Emerald City goes Four Colors

Today begins the two month countdown to the Emerald City Comicon on May 10th and 11th, which is shaping up to be the biggest comic book event in the Northwest. The guest list currently includes nearly two hundred comic book professionals, most notably J. Michael Straczynski, Tim Sale, and DC Comics Executive Editor Dan Didio. Didio will be hosting a DC Comics panel each day and as the con happens about a week and a half after DC Universe: Zero hits the stands expect them both to be lively. Also attending will be several film and television guests, like “Battlestar Galactica’s” Jamie Bamber and Adam Baldwin, he of “Chuck” and “Firefly” fame. We are planning extensive coverage of the con itself and are working on a couple of things in the days leading up to it. Look for profiles on some of the folk attending in the coming weeks as well as a surprise or two. Keep checking back and we’ll keep you updated on the latest.
