According to this report and a statement on their official website, game company WizKids has shut its doors. Makers of the collectible tabletop game HeroClix as well as Star Wars and Pirates of the Cursed Seas PocketModel lines, the Seattle-based company was purchased by industry giant Topps in 2003. Topps CEO, Scott Silverstein said of the decision, “While the company will still actively pursue gaming initiatives, we feel it is necessary to align our efforts more closely with Topps current sports and entertainment offerings which are being developed within our New York office.”

No immediate word on what the ultimate fate will be for HeroClix, Star Wars PocketModel or Pirates of the Cursed Seas. We’ll provide more information here on the future of these lines as we receive it.
